One of the goals for this module is to learn the academic skills that will support your learning. One critical element is the creation of a support network. At this stage you will hopefully have either family and/or friends in addition to the University staff to support you through your studies, Twitter can also play an important role. The following tasks will help you to build this Personal Support network.

Though the following tasks are numbered there is no reason to complete them in order, well except the first one! It is my intention to create more of these tasks to allow for greater choice if you have an idea for a Twitter Task please share it with me

Week 01

Complete the task below for Week 01

Twitter Task Week 01

For Twitter Task Week 01 You will need to create one. The account must be publicly visible (unlocked). You may use a pseudonym and limited bio information to protect your privacy if you wish, but I must be informed of your ID so I can add you to the class list.

The account must have at least a brief bio note, and a photograph or other avatar (not the Twitter default).

If students already have a Twitter account that they use for personal communication, they may either use it here or create a new account specifically for this class.  

Week 02 – 05

Select one task per week from the selection below.

Remember all tweets should include the #dmed2023 hashtag so that they can be easily followed by classmates and others.

Twitter Task 02

Follow at least 10 of your classmates. Ideas for for finding your classmates it to look at the Hashtag , check the blog list or ask on Slack for Twitter IDs.

5 should be from outside you class group but within your year!

TWITTER Task 03

Follow at least 5 people. Ideas for people to follow can be found by exploring lists, participating in online conversations, and checking your favorite blogs for Twitter IDs.

The 5 should be additional to your classmates and lecturers.

Twitter Task 04

Share information by posting abbreviated links to at least 2 online items relevant to the class.

These must be original tweets, and not retweeted links.

Twitter Task 05

Embed Twitter Widget in Sidebar. For this task, you’ll create a Twitter widget to add to your blog sidebar.  A guide can be found here: Twitter in sidebar

TWITTER Task 06

Post 2 tweets –

  1. the first tweet should share two things you learned this week,
  2. the second should highlight an area for improvement or further study

Sharing an image on Twitter – Create a graphic/image/gif explain a term or concept covered during the course so far. Post to Twitter as an image with a caption.

Tweet about your game idea. In week 04 you have selected one game idea to work towards this semester. In one tweet (144 characters exactly) describe your game proposal!

TWITTER Task 10

Create two Lists in Twitter – For this tasks create 2 lists one for all your peers in CDM and one all multimedia/games development related. A guide to creating lists can be found here: Twitter Lists

Tweet about this module.  – post a tweet describing your experience so far for this module(keep it positive!)

Tweet about your game. – create a post that is in the style of an advertisement for your soon to be completed game

Ask a question to learn more about your followers – This is a fantastic way to gather information about your audience. Ask a question and learn about who your followers are and what they like.
